soul and purpose

"Through my paintings I hope to communicate a personal enthusiasm and respect for the natural world, thus encourage in others an active stewardship of same." -- JEANNE ILLENYE

During this time when most of us are fortunate enough to celebrate the season’s great abundance, I thought it rather poignant to create a painting which hopefully humbles us by injecting a sense of true meaning to our Thanksgiving.

PEONIES WITH WRENS (SOLD)

SOLD
Continuing to feature some of the commissioned paintings I've done this year, here is another very large piece which was inspired by a smaller 16x20 in. painting of peonies previously sold on ebay. As this was significantly larger, I was able to comfortably add quite a bit more detail as well as the wrens which the client desired. This is the focal point of the client's room setting. If you wish to commission a painting, please contact me at jeanneillenye@sbcglobal.net

LEMONS & ANTIQUE BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN VASE BOWL ORIENTAL RUG

SOLD
Here is an 11x14 inch commission of lemons and antique porcelains on a silk oriental rug. It became the inspiration for another much smaller 6x6 inch painting in a more contemporary composition which I'd sold separately in an ebay auction, and later, yet another commission of that in a significantly larger 12x12 inch size for another client. I'll showcase those soon.

Delphiniums with Bees (SOLD)

SOLD
Following my promise to begin showcasing some of my commissioned paintings from earlier this year, here is another lovely "Little Gem" which was part of a set of paintings.

SOLDRich contrasts define this otherwise simple bowl of brilliant red cherries. Of particular interest to me were the leaves with their raised veins and evidence of insects, as well as the always favored rustic wood table — all adding the trademark elements of age in my work.

still life oil painting apples bucket farmhouse table Autumn in the Country: Rustic Bucket of Apples

SOLD
20x16 inches oil on canvas panel

Capturing the essence of Autumn in the country, this earthy, muted painting of a rustic setting with cracked stucco walls, farmhouse pine table, and juicy samplings from this bucket of “gold” recalls many crisp, clear days while we snapped apples off the trees in a hurry to fill our baskets and buckets. Thoughts of anticipation for the fragrance of warm apple pies wafting through the air brings a sense of familiar comfort.

BASEBALL: IN THE SPOTLIGHT (SOLD)

SOLD
Here is another small commissioned painting completed this past season which I wanted to share with you. If you wish to commission your own "Little Gem" or perhaps a large painting as a focal point in your room setting, please email me at jeanneillenye@sbcglobal.net

ANTIQUE NANTUCKET LIGHTSHIP BASKET (SOLD)

SOLD
As I approach the milestone of selling on ebay for one year, I thought it might be fun to share with you some of the numerous commissioned paintings I'd been priviledged to create based on that exposure. While many of those paintings are large, some are also small and enter the category of what I refer to as my "Little Gems". My subjects vary tremendously from contemporary to classical, fruit, florals, birds, nests, toys, silverware, porcelains, baskets, antiques, lace, baseballs, ballet shoes, wine, cheese, books, and more...anything that is considered still life. If you wish to commission a painting, please feel free to contact me via email at jeanneillenye@sbcglobal.net
