WHITE ORIENTAL LILIES (SOLD)
This was inspired by one of my small 4x4 inch "Little Gems" paintings done earlier this year and sold to a client who loved it so much she wanted it bigger than life...so here it is! With the enlarged size I was able to include additional details such as ladybugs and dewdrops gliding off the very tip of the broken leaf.

The paintings are really amazing!!! The colour combinations are in each paintings are so beautiful.. Its really gr8 to see such talent
Thank you so much, M Collier! This was challenging for me to paint so much white in such a relatively vast area, but I persevered. I guess it was successful if you've so kindly shared your comments, as I feel you're the master of painting with shades of white! Jeanne
Thank you so much, Adithi! I truly appreciate your generous comments, particularly regarding color. No matter how much I try to incorporate the boldness found in some other artist's works, my tendency always leans toward a warmer, earthy palette...it's so soothing to me. It's really "gr8" to hear from "U". :) Jeanne
Beautiful!!!! Do you paint the dark background around the lilies or the lilies over the background? Hope I'm not asking for "secrets", just would love to know.
Thank you, Connie. In answer to your question, I paint my subjects first, then the background so as not to interfere with the delicate building of glazes. Thanks for your interest! Jeanne
Hi Jeanne, It’s really nice of you to respond to my comment. I happened to visit your website, I was so pleasantly surprised to see all your paintings
(Especially floral), you seem to have used a lot of pinks, light violets n mauves
I just love these colors, these are my favorite colors.
Though I am in the software industry, I have tried my hand on painting. I have done a few of them just as a hobby.
I wanted to know from where you get the inspiration to create such beautiful paintings, is it form real flowers and bouquets which you arrange?
Hi, Adithi! Thank you for visiting my website and for your lovely comments. In answer to your question, most of my work is created from my imagination and memory, with absolutely nothing in front of me but a blank canvas. Recently, however, with my "Little Gems" I've been trying to paint directly from life (although not nearly as often as I would like), since it's not only infinitely easier, but my work reflects improved results. For a beginner such as yourself, I would suggest painting from life, as it will be much more enjoyable and afford a tremendous learning opportunity. Enjoy! Jeanne
Thanks for the advice :), As of now i have done paintings only from photographs or pictures, maybe i'll try doing it from life.
Hi Jeanne,
