Sustenance
16x20 inches / oil on stretched canvas
Here the bare essentials of sustenance with a setting depicting anticipation of the fruit being cut and savored as well as the half empty glass of wine and just two walnuts . . . all seemingly treasured as if an altar display on a clean, folded white cloth protecting it from a very frayed and tattered drape of velvet over a primitive bench. My intent was to bring an almost spiritual aspect to this serene yet powerful still life. Suitably framed, this painting would lend a rich air to either a classical or contemporary setting.
