For a long time I’ve wanted to delve into the subtleties of white, which I’ve introduced in this closeup view of Oriental Lilies springing forth from the ferns. Here I’ve begun to explore this generally underappreciated color and attempted to portray its variety of shades and hues, which is otherwise blended by the eye rendering its muted spectrum and tonal values indistinguishable.

White is indeed a challenge due to the fact that the oil paint is thicker and any touch of another color pollutes it by bleeding, so it requires significantly more patience, which I hope to attempt again in the future. Thank you, Madison. Jeanne
