Although most of my compositions are inspired by the Dutch masters, this particular painting was originally inspired by the French flower painter Louis-Antoine Estachon (1819-1857) and is one of my first elaborate classical oil paintings featuring fruit and flowers arranged around an antique brass wine or water ewer with curvaceous detailing and handle.  Blushing pink and white English roses primulas, grapes, peach, plum and narcissi rest softly upon a dark green velvet cloth trimmed in gold fringe on a gadrooned table ledge.  The stage is set with the backdrop featuring a worn Oriental rug and a branch of apple blossoms with red raspberries for a cohesive and classical pyramidal composition.
