Shades of White - Brilliant New Series for 2012 white peonies lace crystal

Shades of White
24x24 inches / oil on canvas
Over these past few years I've vowed to pursue my new direction and my true heart's desire, but my schedule would never permit.  However, this past year I was able to at least begin with this painting, "Shades of White".  After decades of painting various still life subjects, I've refined my preferences and plan to make a more concerted effort to paint my favorite things:  billowy white blossoms, silver, lace, teacups, nests, country cottage style and more from my gardens and antique collections.  Not only does the new year provide a fresh start, but it's also a time to reflect and bid thanks to all my wonderful art collectors!
Best wishes for a healthful, prosperous and joyful New Year!

"An Enriched Life: It has been said that collecting original works of art is a luxury, but considering that it provides nourishment for one's soul, it is indeed a necessity." --ILLENYE

Beautiful painting Jeanne . I really like the intricacies of the lace, flowers & the crystal too.
Lovely!! Amazing work. How long do you take to finish a painting this big?

Thank you SO much, Diane and Sanchitha! This painting was waiting a long time in the wings and finally got on my easel. Hopefully I'll be able to keep my promise to continue in this new direction. Sanchitha, to answer your question, I actually don't keep track of how long any painting takes as there's so much preliminary work involved prior to painting, and working traditionally in oils requires many thin glazes so it's a long, delicate process...and dozens of ptgs are always moving on/off my easel in any given week. Thanks again! :o)

Thank you SO much, Cheryl and Laura. I truly appreciate your lovely comments! This particular painting seems to be the culmination of several years of striving to pull myself out of the old world style. So many others are in the works which I'll post later in the season after I complete my backlog of commissions. Thank you again for your lovely compliments!
