soul and purpose

"Through my paintings I hope to communicate a personal enthusiasm and respect for the natural world, thus encourage in others an active stewardship of same." -- JEANNE ILLENYE

Red Cherries in Cantonware Bowl blue & white porcelain old world style oil painting

Cherries in Cantonware Bowl
6x6 inches / oil on panel

Bright red cherries cascading over the edge of an antique Cantonware bowl showing a slight chip at the bottom, with leaves torn and bruised, reveal my trademark signs of age as a nod to Nature's transient beauty.  A perennial favorite, this color scheme is featured on page 5 of my blue & white porcelain section on my website.

Hi. I just found your site and love it. I am not primarily a still life painter, but love yours. I paint landscapes mostly, but love the emotional quality of your paintings. I will mention you in my blog "from an art teacher's perspective": http://ohmygoache.wordpress.com. Come visit! Sharon

Thank you SO much, Sharon! I'm delighted that you as an art instructor feels my work is worthy of reference to your students, particularly since I'm basically self taught! :o)
