This month's theme was to use purple and yellow.  As I only use the primaries plus white anyway, I could've painted ANY color in the spectrum as always.  However, I interpreted the theme to be more restrictive and therefore mixed purple (French Ultramarine Blue + Cadmium Red) and kept it as such.  My immediate decision was to mute the yellow (Cadmium Yellow) into an ochre (yellow+purple) and work from there.

Well, one minute you say you are running late on this month's challenge, then what seemed like the next email from you had a finished painting! I love it!

Thank you SO much, Vicki! Well, true, I was running late because I wanted to do either an Iris or Pansies but didn't have time as they'd both require a few days. Sooo...luckily, I had this little Plum painting already begun in a light underpainting stage so simply completed it in our theme colors! (Whew!) What luck! This was really a fun project and everyone's work is really wonderful, as usual! Thank you! :o) Jeanne

Thank you SO much, Jonathan! This one, like my recent "Sliced Pear" is definitely leaning toward the contemporary style. I love the stark, clean look of it which is what I wanted to try for a long time. Thank you for your comment! Jeanne

Wow, Jeanne, if you just whipped this puppy up at the last minute I'm stunned! It's just beautiful!

Thank you SO much Suz! Well, this was sort of a quickie as I'd had the underpainting done already and just pulled it out to quickly finish it for the monthly challenge. I had originally wanted to do flowers but ran out of time and luckily I had this close to being done! :o) Jeanne
