"Through my paintings I hope to communicate a personal enthusiasm and respect for the natural world, thus encourage in others an active stewardship of same." -- JEANNE ILLENYE

oranges, cherries, family crest -- work in progress

Well, I didn't want to reveal this work in progress, but my client is most anxious for a sneak peek, so here it is. He wanted this subject painted in hyperrealist detail. Anyone who paints in this style knows that details cannot be rushed -- in fact, one can feel that attempting to achieve true realism is infinitely impossible. I am reminded of a quotation by Michelangelo which I use on my website homepage, "Trifles make perfection, but perfection itself is no trifle." While I'm shuffling paintings on and off my easel all the time, trying to keep up with my orders, I can't promise when you'll see the completed work, but hopefully very soon.

Oh, thank you SO much, Joan! He's very pleased. I'm so glad I painted this on masonite rather than canvas as the smoother surface permits the details to really shine. Jeanne
