soul and purpose

"Through my paintings I hope to communicate a personal enthusiasm and respect for the natural world, thus encourage in others an active stewardship of same." -- JEANNE ILLENYE

queen of the night black deep purple tulips, white peonies, creamware vase, rose, bees

These "Queen of the Night" tulips with their beautiful sheen, provide an interesting interplay of contrasts against the white peonies, creamware vase and linen cloth, as they almost recede into the background where they play a supporting role. Completing the classical flow of the composition is a thorny rose. Two honeybees, wings glistening and hind legs full of orange pollen, are the finishing touches to this Spring arrangement.
Postscript
Thought I'd share this charming little tidbit with you. My lovely client received her painting and in the excitement of opening her package anxiously swatted the air to shoo away a bee. Alas, she then realized it was actually part of the painting! Who could ask for a more delightful compliment?

Jeanne, you are truly a master painter. What a compliment, to have your client think it was an actual bee that landed on her painting. Great job.

Thank you so much, Joan! Yes, I was tickled pink when my client gave me the news of a bee in her package...only for her to discover it was part of the painting! We both chuckled with delight! Who could ask for a better compliment? Thanks for your lovely comment. Jeanne
