antique sterling silver spoons
4x4 inches / oil on panel / image larger than actual painting

Today we're all posting a theme on "Reflections.
For over 100 years these sterling silver teaspoons have been acquiring their rich patina. Shown here are several patterns, among which are "Lily" and "Orange Blossom". Reflected in the spoons of course is me holding my camera as well as my large oil painting, "Farmstand Peaches," which resides over a pine farmhouse table in my studio.

Jeanne, I am a deep admirer of all your beautiful work,-- your subjects are traditional and yet you make them fresh and new as well. Your style is very unique and a joy to look at.
To find my name on your list of favorites is such an honor and I am very humbled. I hope you are doing well and maybe I will get the honor of seeing some of your originals one day and to meet you also.
Best Regards, Carol McArdle
Thank you SO much, Carol. What a lovely note coming from such a talented artist as well. I'm particularly grateful for your comments regarding my selection of traditional subjects yet with a more contemporized presentation. I'm so drawn to contemporary realism particularly in still lifes, yet as much as I strive to achieve that, I have a firm footing in all that is old and has a history...so I am forever caught inbetween...and perhaps as you say, it's become a style all my own...? Thank you again Carol, for your beautiful comments. I reciprocate same for your exquisite work and will visit your site again! Jeanne
These spoons are wonderful, light colors and a strong composition. Makes me think of a tea room on a spring afternoon.
Thank you so much, LC. I sometimes like a more monochromatic palette, and this composition came quite by accident as I had laid a handful of spoons on my pine table just as the sun was low. It caught my attention and several paintings were borne! This is a cropped version of a slightly larger 5x7 inch painting showing the exquisite silversmithing workmanship in the handles. As for tea...I would love to savor a hot cup with scones, raspberry preserves and clotted cream just about now!!! Thanks for your kind comments! Jeanne
Wow!!! What a wonderful painting. The reflections are done so masterfully on all the spoons. The detail in the spoons are also just marvelous.
Thank you so much, Pat! The reflections were rather fun, although at first I wasn't so sure I wanted to see a 21st century camera in a collection of 19th and early 20th century spoons. Nevertheless, I just painted what I saw.... Thank you for your lovely comments! Jeanne
Lovely work Jeanne. I just googled upon your work and glad I did! Ihave a blogger.com site as well. I'd like to subscribe to your blog, but I can't seem to get the "follow" link to work lately, I don't know why. I'll bookmark you for now.
Best wishes, Alice
Thank you so much, Alice! I don't know why the "FOLLOW" isn't working but if you'd like, I'll put you on my mailing list -- just send me your email. I just popped over to your beautiful blog and will be adding you to my favorites!! Thank you so much for your lovely comments! Jeanne
