In recognition of our Daily Painters' August Theme: "Tribute To a Beautiful Earth: Celebrating and Conserving Our Planet" here is a sentiment worthy of contemplation.

Image is a 5 inch detail from my first large floral painting completed in 1997 entitled "Eternal Spring" 30x24 inches.

Beautyful combination of words and painting.

Thank you so much, Trine. Celia Thaxter was a gardener who lived in Appledor in the Isles of Shoals in New Hampshire. After her death in the early 1900's, the U.S. Navy used it as target range for cannon fire. Only in recent years has her beloved island garden been restored to it's original beauty based on her documentation. I also recommend a book entitled "An Island Garden" (Houghton Mifflin 1988) which is a compilation of her writings about Nature and her peaceful days in her garden. It is illustrated by the famed watercolorist Childe Hassam. Thank you Trine, for your interest. Hope you try her book! Jeanne
