Believe it or not, the cherries here were easier to paint than the background! I vacillated between darker versus lighter . . . and exactly what hue. Then I resisted the temptation to bring the background color right down to the subjects creating stark contrasts, and opted for the more realistic approach uniting the them with the wall via the use of shadows. It required over half a dozen glazes to achieve the precise hue and subtle shadings but I’m finally happy with the beautiful foil it made for this very deserving, brilliant trio of cherries. So you see, it’s not just a cherry painting . . . the cherries were the easy part!

Good day. I very much love your paintings and talent. I wish I had the patience for oils and also the attention span to limit my subjects a little!
All the best,
Christine
Thank you, Christine! I truly appreciate your lovely comments. I actually have been expanding my range of subjects lately beyond still lifes to also include landscapes and animals. (See link in this blog on righthand column.) Fur is infinitely easier to paint than all the textures in the many subjects under the still life category! :o)
